The Patriarch and the City’s Associations Welcome the New Year with the 2025 Vasilopita Cutting Ceremony

With great honor and splendor, the City’s Greek Associations organized the annual Vasilopita Cutting Ceremony for 2025. The event took place on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 18:30, at the Marasleio School.

The ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, adding special prestige and symbolic significance to the welcoming of the new year.

The initiative for the event was undertaken by prominent Greek Associations, including the Association for the Support of Roman Community Institutions (S.Y.R.K.I.), the Alumni Associations of the Patriarchal Great School of the Nation, Zappeion, Zografion, and Ioakeimion, the Pera Music Lovers Association, the Moda Cultural Association, and the Feriköy Cultural and Artistic Association (E.R.TH.O.).

Additionally, the Paidopoli Association, the Association for the Support of Poor Patients and Elderly of the Baloukli Hospital, and E.P.S.I. also participated.

The keynote speech of the event, representing all the Associations, was delivered by the President of the Paidopoli Association, Mr. Antonis Filippidis. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of unity among the Associations, the preservation of the cultural heritage of Romiosini (Greek identity), and the continuous contribution of the Associations to the community.

With traditional wishes and the blessing of His All-Holiness, the community of Constantinople renewed its spirit of solidarity, unity, and cultural heritage, which has characterized it throughout history.
